Changing Views By Changing Contexts¶
One direction we can explore for resolution is to find ways to change the context. Then, we can attune to things from a different view. For example, we can ask how a situation looks when viewed with expansive versus constrictive feelings. We can appreciate how a constrictive view warns us about risks and dangers while an expansive view shows us possibilities and opportunities. Seeing all angles provides a more complete picture.
To gain perspective before further action, a good process might look like this:
- First, note the ideas that show up in the current state (perhaps writing them down), and plan to review them later.
- Check for anything that needs immediate resolution and deal with that.
- Choose a contextual feature to explore and consider how to adjust it.
- Review the topic from this different context and notice how new thoughts and sensations compare to the prior ones.
- Consider what responses best accommodate the insights from the multiple perspectives.
